On April 26, 2026, The Parents’ Climate Community partnered with Ghisallo Cycling to bring the second annual Kidical Mass ATX to Austin. Nearly 300 riders took to neighboring streets on an all-ages group bike ride.
Hosted at Marshall Middle School, the family-friendly, kid-centered gathering featured opportunities to engage with nearly 20 community, City, and local business partners around cycling and mobility. Kidical Mass also included beginner biking lessons with Austin Youth Fitness, a BMX flatland bike tricks show, and speeches from U.S. Congressman Lloyd Doggett, City Council Member Paige Ellis, and National Youth Bike Council President Joshua Funches.
Kidical Mass is an opportunity to connect, learn, and celebrate our love of bikes. But it’s also a kind of rolling protest, bringing visibility to children’s need for safe, shared streets; their right to clean air; and the urgency of climate action, which includes accelerating the transition to multimodal transit.
As PCC founder Eileen McGinnis put it on Sunday, “Whether we’re on our bikes or off of them, we’re more visible, more joyful, and more powerful when we ride together.”
